Appointment type

Routine appointments are for situations where your condition is NON-URGENT and we will offer you the first available routine appointment.  The appointment can be with a GP or the practice nurse depending which is appropriate. This is usually within 2 working days.

Please bear in mind that you may have to wait longer if you wish to see a particular GP.

If you do not need an appointment within 2 working days, you also have the option to book an appointment up to 6 weeks in advance. Please enquire about extra time if there is more than one problem to discuss.

Urgent (on-the-day) GP appointments are reserved for symptoms or conditions that are likely to worsen if you do not get treatment during that day and the GPs have given a check-list of relevant symptoms and ‘at risk persons’ to the Receptionists for them to look out for. Obviously, if you feel you must be seen the same day, even if you do not have any of the conditions on the GP list, your request will be passed to the doctor on duty that day and they will decide how best to meet your needs.     If you have requested an urgent, on-the-day GP appointment, you will be asked to come to the surgery at a specific time so that the GP can see you.

Home visits are for situations where you are too ill to come to the surgery. Please call the surgery before 10am to arrange these. As home visits take up much more of a doctor’s time than a consultation in the surgery, so please come into the surgery to be seen if this is possible.

We run our surgeries on an 10 minute appointment system. Appointments can be booked by telephoning the surgery or on line by following the link https://patient.emisaccess.co.uk/Account/Login

You can book and appointment via our Receptionists for a GP, Practice Nurse or Healthcare Assistant as well as Mental Health Advisor or MSK Physiotherapist. The clinician will require permission to access your own GP records but will be able to organise blood tests, X-rays and Referrals. A copy of the consultation will come back to us and be filed in your medical record.

For some conditions there are specialist services you can go to directly without seeing a GP first, our reception team will advise if your condition meets the criteria for our Physio or MIND Mental Health clinics.
